About Me

Hi, I’m Joanne and I’m a Software Developer and will soon complete my PhD in Computer Science. I currently am working full time while pursuing my PhD. I am most comfortable in highly challenging environments and feel I excel the most in these situations. My major interest are Computer Science, Mathematics and, Art. I feel that there is a creative connection throughout these disciplines. I hope that I will be able to use my creativity and strong mathematical knowledge in my career.

To begin with, I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. My degree consists of a concentration in Software Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. I immediately went on to pursue my Masters in Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University and at the same time my MBA at Florida Gulf Coast University. I graduated May 2010 with both degrees.

I am currently attending FAU to receive my PhD in Computer Science, my current research at FAU deals with developing VANET communication protocols and simulating traffic using OMNET++, SUMO, and VEINS. OMNET++ IDE is based on the Eclipse platform and is a component-based simulation package built on C++ foundations. My other academic experience with C++ includes working in a realtime OS, vxWorks, in which I designed a web server, and designed a data acquisition program with vxWorks to communicate via sockets and publish data on a website.
